We are Ensemble Hesperi, a dynamic and innovative London-based period ensemble, with a passion for showcasing high-quality Early Music through intelligent, distinctive programming. Since 2019, we have gained a strong reputation for championing rarely-heard music, and for bringing forgotten musical stories to life through the spontaneous spirit of chamber music.

Over the past two years, Hesperi (Recorder player Mary-Jannet Leith, Baroque violinist Magdalena Loth-Hill, Baroque cellist Florence Petit, and harpsichordist Thomas Allery) has been selected as City Music Foundation artists, Britten Pears Young Artists on the Chamber Music Residence programme, won first prize at the London International Festival of Early Music Young Ensemble Competition and third prize at the prestigious International Van Wassenaer Competition in Utrecht. Last year we released our debut album, Full of the Highland Humours, with EM Records, and have appeared regularly on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, as well as recording in studio for Classic FM. Over the past three years, we have performed at leading festivals and venues across the United Kingdom and Europe, including Brighton Early Music Festival, LIFEM, Lichfield Festival, King’s Lynn Festival, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Snape Maltings, Temple Music Foundation, Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden, and Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht Fringe. Our most recent projects have attracted significant grant funding: our debut project, The Pheasant’s Eye, celebrating Scottish eighteenth-century music, and featuring special choreography from Highland dancer Kathleen Gilbert, was funded by a Lottery grant from Arts Council England, and our 2021 project, From Caledonia to the Capital, was generously supported by the Continuo Foundation

Please book in advance by sending an email to penny@kingstonchamberconcerts.org
